Geordie Theatre entertains, provokes thought, fires up the imagination, and challenges our audiences of all ages with the unique power of professional live theatre. We celebrate theatre’s powerful impact by working with emerging and established professional artists from various disciplines and cultural backgrounds to create works that are provocative, relevant and enchanting; inspiring dialogue between communities, children and parents as well as teachers and students of all ages. We are committed to developing and adding new excellent works for Theatre For Young Audiences to the Canadian canon. We continue to build relationships with and extend our audience through inclusive practices and by visiting far away communities in Quebec and abroad.
Geordie Theatre is a professional theatre company that has been presenting live English productions for young audiences since 1980. Pushing artistic boundaries with provocative and important stories, Geordie delivers more than 200 performances each season. Since our inception, we have performed for over 2.5 million children, teens and their families.
Geordie's annual seven month 2Play Tour (the longest in Canada) makes its way across Quebec, Ontario and New Brunswick, visiting schools, libraries and community centres. Geordie annually visits such communities as the Eastern Townships, the Lower North Shore, the Gaspé, the Magdalen Islands, the Abitibi and the Outaouais. Often, our shows are the only theatre these communities are exposed to.
Through Geordie's Mainstage Series, an annual season of plays for family audiences presented in downtown Montreal, the company allows its young audience to have contact with new perspectives and widen their horizons through the lens of live performance. Geordie offers exciting, insightful theatre that is sure to transport all audience to new worlds and stories!
Geordie is the only company with a theatre school that offers professional theatre training to over 200 kids and teens a year. Through the acclaimed Geordie Theatre School (GTS), children and teens have the opportunity to build a solid foundation in acting taught by exceptional professional artists where the fundamentals of Confidence, Creativity, and Craft are central to our teaching philosophy.
Geordie Theatre is a member of the Professional Association of Canadian Theatres (P.A.C.T.), the Quebec Drama Federation, and La Maison Théâtre.
